The Coldwater Winter Rowing League features ten regional eights events, and two cracking finales each testing the mettle of clubs across the country.
In the regional events, the top 50 eights in each event will score points for their clubs:
1st Place: 50 points
2nd Place: 49 points
etc etc...
50th Place: 1 point
Then, as the winter frost begins to thaw, the challenge culminates in two grand finales:
WEHORR (Womenβs Eights Head of the River Race)
HORR (Menβs Head of the River Race)
Here, the top 100 finishers will secure points for their clubs:
1st Place: 100 points
2nd Place: 99 points
etc etc...
100th Place: 1 point
Itβs not just about individual crewsβitβs about the power of the collective. Clubs with the most boats in point-scoring positions will claim the Coldwater Crown.
Max points will always be on offer, no matter how many entries there are - so get out to the sticks and win big!
Could your club be crowned the Coldwater Kings or Queens??? π€΄πΈ
The Leagues
Coldwater features three parallel competitions, each split into Kings (Men's) and Queens (Women's) divisions:
The Coldwater Crown π - Open to all clubs nationwide
The Chalice of Unity π· - For clubs based on the Thames and its tributaries
The Sword of the Untamed Realm π‘ - For clubs beyond the Thames Valley
Points scored at any event count towards all leagues a club is eligible for. For example, if a Thames-based club wins at Rutherford Head, they'll score points in both the Crown and the Chalice.
Club eligibility for regional leagues follows the established Head of the River Race rules for the Vernon, Page, and Jackson Trophies:
Thames Valley Clubs are those whose main boathouse lies on the Thames or its tributaries. (Page & Vernon catchment)
Non-Thames Valley Clubs are all other UK-based rowing clubs (Jackson)
Which trophies will your club chase this winter? π
The Journey to Glory
The road to victory flows through the nation's most iconic waterways:
ποΈ 17 Mar - North of England Head (Kings only - because it's after WEHORR)
With every stroke, every finish, and every point, the stakes rise as winter tightens its grip. Will your club have what it takes to dominate the icy tides and claim the title of Coldwater Champions?
